• Anti-ACE2 antibodies

  • TL;DR Antibodies are organisms that react to a cell population that displays certain receptors and binds to them. CONNECTION, if we were to use this as a part of the solution we would need to figure out a way to make sure that they just bind instead of killing the actual host cells
    • CHALLENGE We need to learn more about how antibodies work, and if we can make them less lethal to help occupy receptors on potential target cells.
  • BTW these antibodies are already on the market and we can purchase them (HOW I WISH WE HAD A LAB)
  • CHALLENGE if we find a way to bring this to in our solution as a drug, we would need to find a way to get a drug delivery method to the lung

• TMPRSS2 Inhibitors (will explain how this connects later)

  • TMPRSS2 is a key protein that is involved with how the COVID-19 virus fuses its viral and cellular membrane. It's the key protease that helps the virus infect its target cells, so if we can find a way to inhibit this protein in a virus population that has already infected the host then we can prevent further proliferation of the virus.
  • BTW these inhibitors are also on the market too, so we can purchase them
  • CHALLENGE how are we going to make this better if this isn't a proactive approach to the problem, this is more reactive where the patient gets the virus and then gets treated.
    • ext. it wouldn't make it easier to flatline the curve and ease the pressure on hospitals and the rest of the healthcare system
    • but it may be helpful, in terms of dealing with patients that have already contracted the virus
